Telmo Pievani and Deproducers—Vittorio Cosma, Gianni Maroccolo, Riccardo Sinigallia—together with Roberto Angelini, take center stage in DNA: the show that makes science play!
An original production that blends music and science, born from the artistic genius of Deproducers with the scientific expertise of evolutionary philosopher Telmo Pievani, accompanied by stunning visuals created by Marino Capitanio. This ever-evolving project has also led to a book published by Mondadori, titled DNA: A Code to Write Life and Decode Cancer, written by Pievani himself, designed to answer the many scientific questions raised by the show. This initiative is part of Fondazione AIRC’s innovative and engaging approach to highlighting the cultural value of cancer research in Italy.
Thanks to original music, captivating visuals, and a specially designed stage setup, what would traditionally be a scientific lecture transforms into a thrilling performance and a truly immersive experience accessible to all. The audience will embark on a fascinating journey that connects all human beings—from the formation of the first cells to the emergence of Homo sapiens, and on to the latest breakthroughs in genetics. The result is a rigorous yet accessible exploration of some of the most intriguing topics in human history, emphasizing the importance of scientific research not only as a vital tool against cancer but also as a metaphor for self-improvement through knowledge.
The show delves into themes such as: abiogenesis and the birth of multicellularity, the difference between chance and necessity. The story of 200,000 years of human history, spanning 8,000 generations and 107 billion people. The discovery of DNA, one of evolution’s greatest inventions and the encounter with LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor), the ancestor of all life on Earth
