Bombino

Bombino, whose real name is Goumar Almoctar, is a Nigerien guitarist and singer-songwriter of Tuareg ethnicity. He is considered one of the most famous musicians in the Tuareg world and has popularized Tuareg music by blending traditions with rock and blues. Born into a Tuareg tribe, the Ifoghas, who roam the deserts of Niger, Algeria, and Libya, he developed a passion for blues and rock music, learning guitar on his own while drawing inspiration from Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler. He also studied with the renowned Tuareg guitarist Haja Bebe, who invited him to join his band, where he earned the nickname “Bombino”. He released his first album, “Group Bombino’s Guitar from Agadez, Vol. 2”, in 2009, followed by “Nomad” in 2013, which brought him international success and made him famous worldwide. Since then, Bombino has performed at many festivals and collaborated with artists such as Jovanotti, Stevie Wonder, Keith Richards, and many others. Bombino’s music is a fusion of traditional Tuareg music, blues, rock, psychedelia, and folk. His electrifying melodies and irresistible groove have made him one of the most interesting musicians in the world. He sings in Tamasheq, the Tuareg language, and his songs often speak of resistance, rebellion, and a desire for peace and freedom. His music is a testament to the richness and diversity of Tuareg culture and the power of music as a means of expression and resistance.
